TechEd 2007 SEA (10th – 13th September 2007)

TechEd is an annual IT exhibition that showcases the most recently released/soon-to-be released Microsoft technologies. This was my first time attending TechEd on the 1st day (last year I attended the usual track sessions on the other days). Held at the KLCC (KL Convention Center), the opening ceremony of TechEd SEA 2007 was not bad at all - I really enjoyed the local dances. They were the typical traditional dances with a mixture of dances from the different races in Malaysia. Although Microsoft is an all-American company, these dances really gave TechEd SEA somewhat of a “homey” feeling.

So what do I think about the people at Microsoft? Well, after seeing how Chris Atkinson (President of Microsoft SEA) made his grand entrance by hopping and skipping onto stage, my impression is that Microsoft people are active, happening, cool, sporting and exciting.

Everything went quite OK until lunch time. OMG! It was not announced that lunch was being served at different locations. As a result, everybody squeezed into 1 place and there was a terrible queue. This was truly poor planning. Anyway, the food served by the KLCC catering was just so-so.

And oh, my freebie for this year’s event was a nice little backpack sponsored by k2.com. So will we go again next year? Definitely yes, but I think Microsoft has to improve on the lunch part.

Yeah, the freebie bag is actually a nice little bag... decent quality and convenient to use.

Oh wow, you were expecting another bash on our birthdays... haha... as our birthdays are just 1 day apart, we had some work commitments taking place at the same time - Eunice with the Microsoft TechEd event while I had another separate event - which made planning difficult, given the uncertainties of such events. Anyway, we had private dinners at a cafe and a classy Iranian restaurant called Naab on those 2 days.

Btw, as soon as I receive "something" in the mail, I will also blog about my event... which I have reason to be proud of (familiar to those in the music line). So watch out for that...
